Guardrails, Not Gates

Guiding our children thoughtfully through the digital world can sometimes feel complex, especially as it feels like technology changes faster than we can adapt. This curriculum is built to be a practical, proactive toolkit. We focus on building proactive understanding, not just restrictions, providing clear steps towards nurturing confident, smart, and resilient digital citizens.

The Co-Pilot Phase

Grades 4 through 6

At this age, active involvement between parent and child is key. Designed to be completed together, you will safely guide internet tasks, explore AI tools as a team, and build a strong foundation through open, guided conversations about the digital world and their place in it.

Standards: Aligns with Utah HB237 and Core Standards. Objectives are seamlessly integrated, showing how technology should drive meaningful learning rather than acting as a disjointed activity.

Guided Independence

Grades 7 through 9

Welcome to the bridge years. Students begin independent work emphasizing analog activities that build critical “sustainable intelligence.” Your parent guide serves as a conversation starter, blending the mechanics of AI with your essential, real-world context.

Standards: Aligns with the required Utah 7th-grade digital citizenship course and standards. Objectives carefully bridge the gap between classroom expectations and safe, independent digital use.

The Ethical Launch Phase

Grades 10 through 12

Currently in development. As students near adulthood, parent involvement naturally tapers off. This independent curriculum emphasizes media literacy and algorithms, featuring advanced assignments that require students to initiate high-level, thoughtful conversations with you at home.

Standards: Aligns with Utah media, digital, and information literacy standards. Objectives challenge students to apply critical thinking and high-level analysis to their everyday online environments.
